Recipe: Chinese-Style Orange Chicken
Ingredients:
- 500g chicken breasts, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- Oil for frying
Marinade:
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
Orange Sauce:
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar or white vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp water
- Zest of one orange (for added flavor)

Marinate the Chicken:
- In a bowl, mix the chicken cubes with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, egg, and soy sauce.
- Let the chicken marinate for 20-30 minutes.

Prepare Fried Chicken:
- Mix the flour and cornstarch in a plate.
- Coat the chicken pieces with the mixture and deep-fry in hot oil over medium heat until golden and crispy.
- Drain on kitchen paper.

Prepare the Orange Sauce:
- In a skillet, mix orange juice, water, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and ginger.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to boil.
- Add the dissolved cornstarch and stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Stir in the orange zest.

- Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated.
