Recipe: Soft Honeycomb Bread (Beehive Bread)



Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup warm water (if needed for kneading)
  • Cream cheese or cheese cubes for filling
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for brushing)
  • Sesame seeds or black seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
    • Add the vegetable oil and mix until well combined.
    • Gradually add the egg and warm milk, kneading until you get a soft, smooth dough.
    • If needed, add warm water gradually while kneading.
    • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour until it doubles in size.
  2. Shape the Honeycomb:

    • After the dough has risen, divide it into small balls, roughly the size of a golf ball.
    • Stuff each ball with a cube of cheese and seal it tightly.
    • Arrange the balls in a greased baking tray, placing them close together to form a honeycomb pattern.
  3. Garnish:

    • Mix the melted butter with milk and brush the tops of the balls.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds or black seeds on top for garnish.
  4. Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Bake the honeycomb bread for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve warm or hot with tea or coffee.
